This isn restaurant take out. These are companies that deliver a box of fresh produce, meat, cheese, eggs, pasta and seafood, along with the recipes, and you cook it at home.

There are several national companies such as Blue Apron, Hello Fresh or Plated. But now, the Portland metro area has two new businesses that use local farms.

Rebekah Hubbard, of Portland, is a work from home freelance food photographer and marketing consultant.

Her life is busy so she decided to try an cheap jerseys order from Acme Farms and Kitchen. It was enough to make a full week of meals and leftovers for her and her husband.

“This is the squash and apple soup, and they suggested serving it with the a green salad and bread,” Hubbard said.”I a fan, I would totally make it again, it was super easy.”

Acme Farms and Kitchen just launched in Portland in January and uses all Oregon farms and producers, much of it organic.

Gobble, out of San Francisco, just started taking Portland orders Monday. For all services, customers order online and the box comes right to your front door.

Each company refrigerated box varies in size and runs from $80 $150.

“It not cheap, but it a lot of meals and a lot of servings and so I think it worth it because these are vendors that I know from the farmers markets here in Portland,” Hubbard explained. “That, plus the convenience factor, I think it worth it. It the service plus the groceries and I think that makes the cost make sense.”
